Expanded collaborative on improving care for behavioral health consumers in Emergency Departments and the community, January 2009. Forum on better connection between behavioral and general health care, December 2008. Summit of safety net providers on better collaboration to improve care, September 2009. Again this year there was a behavioral health program at the IHI Forum December 9-12 in Orlando. Click here for the Program Information. The program included the Second Colloquium on the connection of general and behavioral healthcare on December 9th. We are developing a collaboration on Improving Care of Behavioral Health Clients in Emergency Departments.
IBHI also worked with IHI on the creation of a Behavioral Healthcare (BHC) Program at the IHI Forum in Orlando, December 10-13, 2006. The BHC Program at the IHI Forum included BHC specific content and method presentations, as well as access to one of the premier Quality Improvement programs in the nation. As part of the BHC Program, IBHI sponsored a one day Colloquium on Integration of Behavioral and General Health Care on December 11, 2006. We planned, with a very vibrant coalition of interested parties, a one day event in Minneapolis on October 27, 2006 called Respond We Must! Advancing Quality Improvement In Behavioral Health Care. This very important colloquium was intended for health care professionals and leaders who wish to improve the way we deliver behavioral health care. It featured discussions about what is and isn’t working in our current systems for patients and their families and how the Nov. 1, 2005 Institute of Medicine report can provide the framework for improving quality of care. Click here for summary of this event.
IBHI sponsored a national leadership seminar on March 6-7, 2006, in San Mateo, CA, where attendees learned about the
Nov. 1, 2005 Institute of Medicine report
on crossing the quality chasm to mental and substance use treatment, AND ways to implement them.
